New Link for Homeschoolers and Private School Students [e-lert for Sept. 28]

If your district is enrolling homeschooled or private school students, you need to take a look at this new link on the NCVPS website.

http://www.ncvps.org/parentstudent/homeschool/index.html

This site has information on the process for enrolling these students and collecting the fees now approved by the State Board of Education. Please notify your Director(s) of Finance about these resources.

9 Week Health Course Being Offered by NCVPS [e-lert for Sept. 28]

NCVPS will be offering a 9 week health course to supplement your Health/PE program. Here are some of the advantages to this new offering:

Advantages for 9 week long health:

-Scheduling PE with a community college allows schools to enroll students in Health for 9 weeks and PE off campus. This leaves the on-site PE and Health teachers with smaller ratios which should enhance instruction.

-This option may be especially attractive to upperclassmen many of which would rather not take classes with freshmen.

-2 sessions per semester

- With 2 sessions per semester, a school could enroll all of their PE students in a health class online; half in the first nine weeks of the semester and half in the second nine weeks. This gives the school the option of putting an assistant in the lab with the health students and allowing the PE teachers to all split the PE students that are left. This will effectively cut ratios in the gym in half, providing for better quality PE instruction. After the nine weeks ends, the health students can go to PE with the PE teachers and the PE students can go to the lab for health.
