LEO Hot Topics! [E-lert for Jan. 13]

1. Lots of questions about LEO textbooks - contact your local LEA finance officer. They will have information from Paul LeSieur, DPI Finance Officer, concerning textbook reimbursement. Textbooks belong to the school. Parents should not have to purchase textbooks. Work with a Community College that will ship and invoice the school system for textbooks.

2. Contact potential Community Colleges about LEO courses, if the CC requires any visit to the campus move on to another CC. Cleveland CC does not require any trips to the campus, everything is handled online (we do call it Learn & Earn ONLINE). Don't give your business to a CC that will not work with you, there are many CC from which to choose.

3. Encourage students to set up accounts at CFNC.org. It is free and allows students to apply online to any college/university in NC (including all CC) as well as send transcripts, via NC WISE, electronically. The "Student Transfer Navigator" will allow students to check which UNC campuses will accept which CC courses. Also on the CFNC site student can fill out all Federal loan and grant documents (FASFA) Lots of value for students on this site.
